Pikes Peak Cog Railway!
This weekend, we had some very special guests--the Colemans! While we welcomed Neil and Alicia, Cole was particularly excited to see Jack and Amelia. One condition of the visit was that we all take the Pikes Peak Cog Railway--made famous by the one and only Choo Choo Bob--up to the top of Pikes Peak. It was a hoot, and the kids had a great time, even though the snow meant that we couldn't reach the summit. One small issue--on the way back down, we took a break for people to walk around and take pictures, and Neil built a snowman. But because snow is cold, Neil's fingers shrank ever so slightly, and his wedding ring came off. (That'll teach him to do nice things for his kids.) Despite a thorough search from us and our fellow passengers, we just couldn't find it, and we want back down the mountain. Fast forward a couple of hours later, while we were driving in the Garden of the Gods, Neil's phone rings, and IT WAS THE GUY FROM THE PIKES PEAK COG RAILWAY, WHO SAID THAT ONE OF THEIR CONDUCTORS STOPPED ON A LATER RIDE AND TOTALLY FOUND NEIL'S RING. Wild. Still can't believe that happened.
Oh, and see that Twins hat on Cole's head? The one that matches Jack's? A gift from the Colemans, because even though Cole no longer lives in Minnesota, they know how vitally important it is that he grow up with a strong moral foundation. And rooting for Minnesota sports teams, as we all know, builds character. (Because they lose a lot. Life is hard, kids. We're preparing you for the really hard things in life by forcing you to root for teams that will disappoint you far more often than they will emotionally reward you. You can thank us later.) 5/3/2013.
