The Lange Family Baptismal Gown

We managed to (very carefully) fit Cole's chubby little arms into the Lange family christening gown, which was hand-made by Beatrix Dean Kellard, Lindsey's great-great-grandmother (Bobpa's great-grandmother, Grandma Midgie's grandmother), over one hundred years ago. Although the delicate material definitely shows its age, Grandma Midgie's babies, grandbabies and great-grandbabies have continued to take their turns donning the intricately crafted gown on their baptismal days. Cole, of course, did not hesitate to put this irreplaceable treasure directly into his mouth. 8/28/2011.

Cole's Baptism in the Waters of Minnehaha Creek

Today was a very special day in Cole's life -- he was baptised at Saint Stephen's Episcopal Church. We were blessed with beautiful water, joyful music, and beloved family and friends. Cole was an angel-baby the entire morning. We were especially impressed by his tolerance of the cold waters of Minnehaha Creek! Congratulations, Cole! 8/28/2011.

Cole's Big Colorado Trip: Good-Bye Rockies! 'Til Next Time!

We enjoyed a short hike to Nymph Lake before saying good-bye (for now) to our lovely mountain home away from home. Farewell, Rockies! Thanks for a wonderful family vacation! 8/25/2011.

Cole's Big Colorado Trip: Cole Rolls Over!

Cole surprised us (and himself) by rolling over all by himself during our Colorado trip! Here is a shot taken after he rolled from tummy to back for the first time. Good work, Buddy! 8/25/2011.

Cole's Big Colorado Trip: Mini Golf at Tiny Town

Cole played mini golf with Mommy and Daddy at Tiny Town Golf in Estes Park, and he was a total trooper. Daddy remembers golfing here as a little kid -- the place has been in operation for 56 years! 8/24/2011.

Cole's Big Colorado Trip: Walking Along Trail Ridge Road

Check out the rain in the distance! Crazy! 8/24/2011.

Cole's Big Colorado Trip: Relaxing in Bobpa's Adirondack

Bobpa made this swell adirondack chair for Opa and Nana. Cole spent some time enjoying the impeccable craftsmanship. 8/22/2011.

Cole's Big Colorado Trip: Crosswords with Daddy

One of our favorite low-key cabin activities . . . and now Cole gets to join in. 8/22/2011.

Cole's Big Colorado Trip: I Spy With My Little Eye . . .

On the way back from Alberta Falls, Cole rested against Daddy's chest. He eventually fell fast asleep! 8/21/2011.

Cole's Big Colorado Trip: Hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park

Cole celebrated his 4-month birthday by going on his first hike to the lovely Alberta Falls. He enjoyed taking in the beautiful surroundings, including the blue, blue sky, the rushing waterfalls and the fluttering aspen leaves. Cole really seemed to enjoy his first hiking adventure! 8/21/2011.

Cole's Big Colorado Trip: Rockin' with Auntie Chelsey

Auntie Chelsey came up to the cabin to visit for the weekend, and she and Cole enjoyed spending some quality time on the porch. The onesie was a gift from Chels, a bit of a rebel herself. 8/21/2011.

Oh, by the way, here's the view from the porch

Cole's Big Colorado Trip: Up, Up, and Away!

Cole's Big Colorado Adventure began at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. He was a real trooper from takeoff to landing (now, once we landed was another story). He certainly earned his junior pilot wings! 8/18/2011.

Cole & Sophie

Cole is exploring with his little hands more and more! He loves holding onto his clothes and blankets, and he is starting to grasp small toys placed near him. He is especially pleased when he manages to get things into his mouth. Today, he enjoyed playing with (and drooling on) Sophie the Giraffe. 8/12/2011.

C is for Cookie . . . and Cole

Cole is starting to sing along when we sing songs to him. One of his faves? "'C' is for Cookie," of course! 8/4/2011.
